When cannabis growing you may encounter "sooty mold" is a black mold and surface fungus that is produced from bugs, such as aphids, mealy bugs, scale, white-flies, etc. that excrete sticky honeydew. Sooty mold is a problem only with indoor gardens when honeydew is present (click here to learn about Sooty Mold Issues and Honeydew). Plants that are infected with sooty mold have restricted plant development and slows cannabis growing which diminishes your harvest (yield). In order to prevent this you need to remove all insects that excrete honeydew and prevent them from entering your garden. If there is honeydew on your plants wash it away along with the mold with a biodegradable soapy solution then rinse the soap solution off a few hours after you have applied it. If it does not remove the honeydew, try it again or with a more concentrated soap solution. Let Us Know What You Think.

Once the cannabis plants are infected with a virus, its cells will multiply the virus and make their way through the plant via their fluid distribution system eventually killing the plant. Cannabis viruses can be spread by:
Transmission by aphids and whiteflies is the worst type of a cannabis virus out of the bunch.
Plant symptoms for a cannabis virus is sickly growth, spots on leaves then stems then the plant will begin yellowing in color and result in a low yield from the plants. A virus can completely take over a cannabis plant within a few days and once it is infected there is little you can do. Cleanliness is the best prevention and by using fresh, sterile growing mediums. By not reusing old growing mediums, it will help prevent cannabis virus issues since there are no chemical sprays that are effective against viruses. An inbred line (IBL) is a seed lot and cannabis genetics that has been bred for generations selecting repeatedly for specific traits to the point that each generation of plant will have the same traits as the generations before. These are said to be true breeds for these characteristics and they are bred for, then will have very little to no variances in these traits. Pure lines make the best breeding stock as they have predictable outcomes in subsequent generations. Hybrids Hybrids are the product of a cross between genetically unlike parents in cannabis genetics. These hybrids retain their characteristics if they are reproduced asexually, but fail to generate the same characteristics when they are reproduced sexually. Hybrid varieties are developed by using inbred lines and creating new ones by segregating plants and selecting with inbreeding for homozygosity, then evaluation of the inbreeds for merging the ability in hybrid groupings, that follows reproduction of the selected inbred lines for hybrid seed production. F1 Hybrid Varieties An F1 hybrid population is obtained by crossing two unrelated, true breeding varieties and they are uniform when grown from seed, but are genetically unstable like other hybrid varieties. The main benefits of F1 hybrids is seen and known as hybrid vigor, where they exceed the performance of the parents, though if these are reproduced sexually through inbreeding within the F1 population and the next generation will not be uniform or similar to the previous generation. Cannabis genetics varieties are not protected by plant breeder’s rights legislation, though there is one cannabis clone that is registered for plant protection in Holland known as ‘Medsins’ that is owned, licensed to grow and used by a pharmaceutical company for manufacturing.
It does seem that conversations surrounding cannabis benefits has moved on from whether the plant is good or bad for users (click here to learn about medical marijuana benefits). The majority of the population is now for legalizing marijuana, as shown by more and more states following Colorado’s lead and passing legislation making recreational use legal for those over 21. Still, even if some 60% of the population are for marijuana, opposition is still stiff - it’s not a passive resistance, but an ideological one. Those 40% of people who do not like marijuana really don’t like it, that’s why it’s always useful to revisit the cannabis benefits of the plant. Even in today’s educated society, it can be quite amazing how much misinformation can be spread about marijuana. Here are some of the plus points worth remembering when you’re talking to friends and family about the drug. It Relieves Depression Have you seen the numbers of people suffering from depression? It’s quite outstanding and it’s a crisis that healthcare hasn’t yet caught up with. Even the very best medical coverage can only do so much for depression, which is often treated using drugs that aren’t always as effective as they could be. A study conducted by the University of Buffalo showed that cannabis can be an effective tool against symptoms of depression. With the illness on course to become the world’s most common illness in the near future, it might just be that marijuana becoming more widespread throughout society is a solution to the problem. It’s Safer than Drugs and Alcohol Like it or not, people are always going to use something to unwind after a long day at work. For many people, this involves cracking open a bottle of beer or wine - and for other people, that can harder drugs like cocaine. Take a look at some of the figures of how many people die from drugs, alcohol, and marijuana each year and you probably won’t be surprised to find that marijuana comes squarely at the bottom of the list. Why? Because no people ever, anywhere die because of the plant. And drinking? That’s a staggering 88,000 deaths each year. So if somebody asks you not why marijuana should be legal, but why its use should be promoted, you can say: because it’ll save lives. It Relieves Conditions that Cripple People’s Lives Yeah, how about that? There are thousands of anxiety and PTSD sufferers out there who would not be able to face the day if it weren’t for cannabis benefits. For these people, it’s not about marijuana being a gateway drug or what the potential tax revenues from legalizing it might be. Those pros and cons go out the window. It’s about their life and being given a second chance to to become a functioning member society thanks to a plant. People are Safer The doomsayers surrounding the legalization of marijuana in Colorado claimed hospitals and police forces would have deal with a major fallout of everybody smoking pot all the time. Bad news for their predictions: they were completely wrong. As one example, traffic fatalities fell to a low that’s virtually never seen before. Productivity Goes Up The image of the lazy stoner dropout sitting around watching cartoons all day was always a myth, but now there’s data to back it up. Studies have shown that marijuana can boost productivity in many ways. For one, it helps us sleep better, so we have more energy throughout the day. Second, a whole host of people are using to combat medical conditions that stopped them from reaching their full potential. On a basic level, people who are happy and having less social anxiety will be more forthcoming with their ideas and be more willing to engage and do greater work with cannabis benefits. Finally, and we confess this is a bit more anecdotal, but marijuana gives people the inspiration to think bigger - they can think of an idea and see how it will be achieved. In the long run, this is what marijuana comes down to: it helps people.
Be it helping them relax, cope, do great things, or simply have fun because people rarely take it for nefarious reasons. In the history of marijuana use, we’d wager the number of good things would avalanche the number of bad things that have come from it. That alone is one reason for the use of the plant. The Medical Marijuana Legalities Program is an important introduction to the legal issues surrounding medical marijuana and the cannabis industry. What’s the difference between the federal government, its agencies, and state law…and what does that mean for you? The history of medical marijuana is both long and colorful. Being a medical marijuana patient you need to decide on how you are going to obtain your medicine. Learn about the laws that govern marijuana distribution, cultivation, possession, and consumption for adults and medical patients. The trail from its being a common medicinal product through it becoming illegal is an interesting study. The medical, moral, financial, political, and legal issues involving marijuana have evolved into a controversial conundrum. The purpose of this program is to learn how to behave safely and responsibly under federal and state law. In this program you will learn about:
And as more states vote to ratify medical marijuana laws every year, this marijuana legalities program will keep students informed as it becomes available in new medical marijuana states. The choice is yours, check this marijuana legalities program out to learn more about your options to better understand the differences between patients, care givers, dispensaries, and growers. And not to mention the conflicts in medical marijuana legalities between federal government, its agencies and state laws. Our Medical Marijuana Legalities Program provides students the opportunity to learn more about their options so they can better understand the differences between patients, care givers, dispensaries and growers.
